Package Pumping Stations
For over 10 years Nomenca have delivered package pumping station projects across a wide variety of sectors.
During this time we have identified an ever increasing requirement for compact easy to install, easy to
maintain systems that reduce operational costs and improve health and safety within pumping stations.
To service this need wehave teamed up with STRATE to distribute and install the AWALIFT package pumping
station.
The AWALIFT is a sealed system design with simplicity at its heart. The highly reliable combination of
centrifugal pump, solids separation and collecting chamber ensure continuous operation for decades.
The STRATE AWALIFT is different from all traditional pumping stations and has many advantages:
- The flushing action of the solids collecting chamber within AWALIFT prevents clogging and fouling of valves and pumps associated with current pumping station solutions.
- The patented solids collecting chamber guarantees optimum protection of the pump from rags and solid debris.
- Standard macerating pumps have been replaced with more economical and efficient multibladed pumps.
- A large selection of pump motors provides a range of capacities against various pressure heads and allows for a wide range of possible installations.
- The AWALIFT is a dry well installation and plant operators appreciate the resulting clean and hygienic pumping station.
- The simplicity of the AWALIFT and safe working environment means that one operator can easily maintain the pumping station.
- Concrete-corrosion within a normal wet well pumping station is caused by contact with raw sewage. By installing an AWALIFT you can negate any corrosion risk as the pumping station will not be not exposed to raw sewage or its off gases.
How does the AWALIFT work?
The AWALIFT Pumping Station is designed to offer a simple solution to moving waste water with high concentrations of solids. Its simplicity is illustrated below.
- Effluent enters the unit via the Inlet Flow pipe into the Distribution Hopper and is distributed into the 2No Solids Collection Chambers.
- The 2No flap valves retain the solids content within the Solids Holding Chamber, allowing only the effluent to pass through the pump impeller into the holding tank.
- The effluent level within the Holding Tank continues to rise until the Level Controller activates the duty pump.
- The duty pump draws the effluent from the Holding Tank and flushes the solids from the Solids Collection Chamber into the Rising Main.
- The Ball Valve seals the Solids Collection Chamber from the incoming flow, forcing the incoming flow into the standby pump Solids Collection Chamber - the unit is constantly online, even when its pumping.
- When the Holding Tank has been emptied, the unit reverts back to the Filling Stage cycle, and the duty pump automatically rotates ensuring both Solids Collection Chambers are equally flushed. The Pump Impellers never see any of the solids, therefore smaller, more efficient impellers are used which enable low flow, high head duties to be achieved, saving operational costs.

Benefits of the AWAlift Pumping Station:
Applications where the AWALIFT will show major benefit include;
- Low flow and high head applications.
- High heads where tandem pumping would be selected. The higher efficiency pumps will cope better than with tandem pumping.
- Low flows—The enclosed system means smaller passage and velocities maintained. This will prevent solids and fats separating and creating high well maintenance costs.
- Conversion of dry sumps which will eliminate the need for expensive conversions of wet wells and separate valve chambers for conventional pumping stations.
- The reduced maintenance needs of the AWALIFT system will suit an application where the station is to be installed in a remote location, or in a location with difficult access etc.
The AWALIFT will show benefits in terms of:
Lower running costs, (due to high efficiency pumps).
- Lower maintenance costs, (well cleaning can be expected at 6 to 12 monthly periods).
- Lower maintenance costs, (for pump blockage—due to blockage free operation).
- Lower capital costs.
Applications where AWAlift Pumping Stations are Ideally suited:
- Replacement of troublesome EJECTOR SYSTEMS.
- Replacement of VACUUM SYSTEMS.
- Increased population domestic sewage application, where the existing system is no longer big enough, and space is restricted.
- Any application where unpleasant odours would be a problem.
